Editorial Standards
CustomBank publishes guides about banking and money because it builds a banking simulator, and the two are connected: it is difficult to make a realistic teaching tool without learning the subject properly first. This page sets out how that writing is produced, what it rests on, and what it deliberately refuses to do.
Who writes these guides
Everything here is written and reviewed in-house by the people who build CustomBank, and published under the CustomBank name rather than under individual bylines. A byline is only worth something if verifiable credentials sit behind it, and we would rather attribute the work honestly to the team than imply an expertise we cannot evidence.
What the team does have is a working relationship with the mechanics. Statements, fees, overdrafts, transfers, interest and account types all had to be implemented precisely enough to behave correctly inside a simulator. That is a more demanding way to learn a subject than reading about it, and it is the basis on which these guides are written.
Where the facts come from
Anything describing how banking or investing works in the United States is checked against primary sources: regulators, the institutions themselves, and published rules. Where a figure varies between providers, the guide says so rather than choosing one and presenting it as universal.
We do not make claims about other companies' products, pricing or terms. Those details change without notice, and a comparison that has quietly gone out of date is worse than no comparison at all.
Where a question is genuinely contested, or where the honest answer depends on someone's individual circumstances, the guide says that instead of manufacturing a single confident answer.
How we write about our own app
Statistics about CustomBank itself, including ratings, download counts, feature counts and supported languages, are taken from the live App Store listing rather than from internal documents, and re-checked on a schedule. Internal records go stale quietly. A store listing is the version of the truth anyone can go and read.
If a number on this site disagrees with the store listing, the store listing is right and this site is wrong. That rule exists because it has been needed.
Features are described as they behave in the app that is shipping today. Nothing planned, in development or partly finished is written about as though it already works.
Corrections and updates
Guides are revised when the underlying facts change, when a rule is updated, or when we find a mistake. A page's modified date moves only when its content has genuinely changed. We do not restamp old material to make it look recent, because a freshness signal that means nothing devalues the ones that do.

CustomBank is free to download and an optional Premium subscription unlocks additional features in the app. Nothing on this website sits behind a payment of any kind. There are no ads in the app and no ads on this site, no guide is sponsored, and there is no paid placement anywhere in this content.
There are no affiliate links on this site. Links to the App Store and Google Play are plain links to our own listings, and links to CustomStocks, CustomCrypto and the other CustomApps products are links to software from the same studio. We earn nothing when you follow any of them beyond the ordinary chance that you use something we made.
This website loads Google Analytics to measure traffic, and that is the only third-party service any page here uses. The privacy policy covers what the CustomBank app itself collects.
Why this page exists
Financial topics are the ones where confident, unsourced, lightly-checked writing does the most damage, and there is a great deal of it. A standards page does not by itself make anything accurate. What it does is commit us in public to a set of rules that can be checked against the work, which makes it possible for a reader to catch us being wrong.
